Privacy Policy

I have a legal duty according to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) to explain how I will use and store personal information that I must collect about you as a patient.

In accordance with articles 6(1)(b) and 9(2)(h) of the GDPR EU legislation I will maintain certain information about you in both electronic and paper format. I may also hold information about you that has been passed to me by another practioner on your behalf. Your confidentiality is important to me, so this data will be stored securely behind digital passcodes and physical lock and key. I will only store information that is necessary to fulfil my service with you as your therapist. This will include your name and contact details, your GP name and contact details, and anonymised session notes. These notes will not be shared except for in the following circumstances:

1) If there is a threat of harm towards another person, I have a legal duty to disclose certain information. This will be done with your consent but only if that complies with safeguarding practices.

2) For my professional supervision, in which case my notes will be anonymised and no identifiers will be present in your data.

3) If I am ordered to share information by a court of law.

I will hold your information for 5 years beyond the course of your therapy. You have a right to request that your information is deleted sooner than this. You have a right to access the personal information that I hold about you, and the right to have your personal information corrected if you note inaccuracies. You have the right to ask for your personal data to be restricted or deleted if you feel it is being used improperly, unless it must be retained by law.
